and kitty would slip in through a hole in the fence while the neighbors fought inside

it’s a cold day, here in salt lake city
which is weird cause it was warm yesterday
and i sat in my back yard and pulled some weeds
and thought of you
i heard about the squat house
and i thought that it was pretty cool
i know you’re having fun, but i miss you so much
and i hope that you miss me back
i wanna braid your hair and i wanna walk w/ you
through the avenues, and talk about how fucked up everything is

it’s been too long since we’ve taken substances and sat around and lost our minds

you’d been back to visit a couple months before for the holidays
but salt lake just made you sad and you had to go home early to my dismay
i remember that you cried

but you were looking better
standing in the desert
and we couldn’t wait to spend the week w/ you
gave me a klonopin from a
zip-lock bag of pills one night
felt a little worried about you and the drugs but you seemed alright
drunk there by the fire, i kept feeling higher and warmer laughing w/ my good friends
dollar sign sixty-nine stick’n’poked on my arm will always be one of my favorites
took us to gates pass to watch the sun set on the saguaros
but i was so hung over i had to turn my back and just watch their shadows grow
in the sonoran paradise, the sunlight hurt my eyes and i was kind of miserable
But i was feeling better standing in the desert with keileigh, tucker, chris and you
i remember that you cried
in my bed and i just held you bc i didn’t know what else to do
but you were so much better living in the desert and we had a great week w/ you
and every time that i’ve been back since then
i get to see my friend stronger and more secure
you’re always looking better standing in the desert
